Mac's Pizzeria Aberdeen

Wednesday, January 22

On Friday evening when I decided to meet up with my uni flatmate I had the urge to go somewhere new in Aberdeen. At first we thought about 'The Esslemont' but having a look at the menu it didn't really appeal. We wanted somewhere simpler and that's when I remembered about 'Mac's Pizzeria' just upstairs.

I've developed a real love for classic Neapolitan pizza recently and the price point looked perfect for a girly night out before payday. Plus in January they are offering 20% off your bill (check their Instagram).

The old Esslemont building is a great setting for a restaurant - it's really open plan and you can see straight into the kitchen when you come upstairs. Plus you can see from the photos that it has some great decoration. The toilets were a particular wow moment for me!

I'd been browsing the menu before we booked so the 'Mac's Signature Pizza' was a no brainer for me. I love haggis and black pudding and the combination of both on the pizza made for a real Scottish treat. The actual dough was delicious and proper Neapolitan too.

Eilidh had the special - BBQ chicken pizza which also looked really tasty. I always like it when a restaurant does specials because it gives you something a little different to try.

I didn't try the garlic bread with cheese my friend ordered because eating a whole pizza is enough for me. However, she thought it was a little too browned on the bottom so many I didn't miss out too much.

Overall I had a great meal at 'Mac's Pizzeria' and would love to go back and try more of their delicious sounding pizza toppings. The service was great and the atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely. My only regret is not having enough room for pudding.

For a bottle of white wine, two pizzas and the garlic bread we paid £34.80 (included our discount) which was value for money I was happy with.

Where in Aberdeen would you recommend trying next?
