G is for Ginger's... Most Played

Being a huge music fan is by no means unique around the blogging community and I've been trying to work my favourite music into my blog for a while now. Firstly I will admit to being a bit of a 'music snob' and I believe passionately you should listen to an album start to finish the way the band intended. After all they are put into an order for a reason. Secondly I enjoy having CDs in my collection rather than just digital copies in iTunes.

Today I've gone through my iTunes and selected my most listened to tracks to give me a starting point. Have a listen to them on my little spottily playlist too (I've just signed up so I'm still learning). Maybe these are my favourites because I've seen 3/6 songs live and hopefully will hear the other 3 at T in the park in July this year. If you guys would like to see album reviews too please let me know below.

Jake Bugg
Everyone and their aunt has been raving about Jake Bugg's new(ish) album Shangri La and I'm a fan too. Slumville Sunrise has to be my favourite track and on average I listen to it about 3 times in a row. The extremely catchy chorus just works for me and the theme of not fitting in where you grow up makes it the perfect tune.

Bastille
I didn't know much about Bastille, apart from Pompeii and Flaws, before seeing them live at T in the park and boy they made a HUGE impression on me. I've subsequently watched their set another 10 times at least. I can't say why Laura Palmer is my favourite but it probably has a lot to do with the tune again. Bastille were well deserved winners of the 'best British break through act' at the Brit awards recently- and worthy of my vote!

Arctic Moneys
Okay; surely everyone is a fan of the great Arctic Monkeys? Maybe not but I certainly am! Alex Turner- need I say more? AM is full of their classic sound and is pretty close to their first album, Whatever People Say I Am That's What I Am Not, in my favourites. No. 1 Party Anthem is a fantastic track about failing to attract a girl in a bar when you've both had to much to drive. It gives you something to think about and I love the lyrics- again and I've listened to it over and over again.

YOU ME AT SIX
You me at six's long awaited 4th album arrived in the post in January and went straight into my CD player. They have taken a huge step up from their last three albums so it was well worth the wait. I've fallen in love with every track on Cavalier Youth but for the purposes of this post I've picked out Cold Night. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that Josh (Franceschi) recorded it topless but I love the sound and the guitar rift. Defiantly will be doing a full album review for this one.

Frank Turner
I first started listening to Frank Turner when I saw he was on the lineup for T20 which was years to late in my opinion he is an amazing singer/songwriter and all of his sounds have great themes. Listen to 'Long Live The Queen' if you are looking for the most beautiful song about a friend that's dying. However for this plaits I've picked I Still Believe. The first 5 seconds just makes me want to get up and dance. The perfect song about the power of rock 'n' roll.

Twin Atlantic
Ah Twin- a great Scottish Band (there are plenty of them). I will admit I don't know this band as well as I would like but Fire reminds me of a very close friend and good times. I love their ascents and listening to the epic guitar in the album. I've also seen them sing this live which was another amazing experience.

Thinking about Scottish bands reminds me of watching Dundee band 'The View' live at T in the park and people asking me if I knew what they were saying. Didn't really think of Dundee having a strong ascent again before.

So that's my little playlist- I would love it if you could give all these songs a little listen (it won't do you any harm) and if there is a band you think I'd like please let me know.
